Breast cysts are a common occurrence, and do not indicate any significant increased risk of breast cancer.

Cysts can be significantly symptomatic depending on their size, position, or the fact that sometimes they can become inflamed or infected.
Ultrasound guided aspiration of a breast cyst is a common procedure performed at Breast Imaging to relieve symptoms caused by the cyst.
The cyst aspiration is performed using some local anaesthetic.

A cyst aspiration will take between 15 - 30 minutes.
